Republic County is located in north central Kansas. It is named for the Republican River, which runs through the county.
Both the seat and largest city is Belleville. It borders Cloud, Jewell and Washington Counties in Kansas, as well as Thayer, Jefferson and Nuckolls Counties in Nebraska.
